A little festive focus - on YOU!

Christmas is a crazy time of year for most of us but women in particular seem to have to do lists coming out of our ears as we help to prepare our families for this joyful time of year.



It can be really easy to let the focus on your own wellbeing slide a little bit before we even get to the big day not to mention during the festivities and of course the aftermath with all of those goodies left over waiting to be eaten.


Now I am all for balance... it's Christmas for goodness sake. A time too be merry and bright surrounded by those you love. But here are my three top tips to help you keep your focus on YOU during the festivities.


1. Start your day with a protein, fibre and fat-rich breakfast, which will control cravings throughout the day and ensure you’ve shown your gut microbiome some a little love – my go-to is avocado & salmon. Delicious!


2. Get some movement in each and every day, it doesn't need to be a super sweaty workout but a brisk walk or your favourite flow from the Yoga and Fitness virtual studio would be a fantastic place to start.


3. Stay mindful, it can be so easy to loose track of what day it is with all the celebrations and excess. But begin each day with a healthy cup of tea and some journalling. Not only is this a wonderful way for you to record the magic of the season but this little routine ensures you carve out a bit of time for you each day before the day sweeps you away.


And just a little note... Christmas isn't always an easy time of year. Anxiety can be high and this can have a huge impact on you and those around you. So I hope these little daly practices will help you navigate whatever this years Christmas season brings.
